St. George's Day Costumes
Mixing knighthood and merrymaking? Umm, yes, please! It's not every day that a saint slays a dragon. Although, if that happened these days we have a feeling that conservationists would have a thing or two to say. Pretty sure dragons must be on the endangered species list. After all, if the Yeti can be protected by law in Nepal, shouldn't environmental agencies stand up for long lost fire-breathing beauties that might be lurking out there? (Loch Ness, we're looking at you.) Anyway, we may have digressed a bit. Back to Saint George's Day! A day to celebrate chivalry, picturesque knights, and the mighty arm of England!
The world has a lot to thank England for, this country has changed the world's landscapes. The great British Empire popularized lawns, people apologizing when they aren't at fault (that's chivalry for you), and let's not forget the World Wide Web. Thanks for that last one, Tim Berner's Leed. Yes, there's plenty to celebrate when it comes to Saint George's Day and it's not limited to centering it around flame-throwing beasties.
That said, there aren't many holidays that revolve around the ancient art of dragon-slaying so we'd better make the most of this one! So, step out in the streets in your best Saint George's gear this year. It's not going to become a bank holiday if people celebrate half-heartedly. While you might have to draw straws with friends to decide who has to be the persecuted dragon in a group of knights, with the right amount of enthusiasm, everyone is sure to get into dressing up when they see these Saint George's Day costumes.
Whether you're going out dancing, hosting a party serving traditional English fare or you're heading into the streets for a Patriotic parade, you can find the perfect apparel on this page. For instance, while we do have a full-on fire-breathing lizard costume with pointy wings, it might seem a little intense for a nightclub. For a chill approachable look, we have a subtle and suave red dragon traxedo. We also have a chain mail hood for a subtle knight costume.
And for those of you who want to go as a knight, no holds barred, we have gorgeous knight costumes for both men and women. You'll look like you're ready to save damsels in distress when you show up in shining armor with red accents. The women's royal knightess has a fine mesh hood and cape that looks like chain mail, a red and black velvet textured tunic, and a metallic silver skirt. Pair it with a sword because you'll never save the day without a faux sword. The featured men's medieval knight costume has layers of shining armor and has a tunic that bears London's motto, "Domine Nos Dirige" which translates to "Lord, guide us". Dragons beware, these knights aren't fooling around!
When April twenty-third rolls around this year, be ready! It'll be a day of color and music and hopefully plenty of helpings of delicious roast. England has changed the world in so many wonderful ways, so show your British pride with a shining bright costume whether you're headed to the street or the stage. After all, you don't have many chances per year to slay dragons!
